YouTube has now topped more than 1 billion video streams served per day, according to sources within Google, who run the sharing site.

It also matches up nicely with the current best estimates for the population of the internet, also pegged at 1 billion. That means that everyone online is, on average, watching one YouTube video every day.

Comscore's estimates place Google with a 72% market share of web video, but they also estimate Google to have 7 billion a month in the US, which is a little low if the above sources are to believed. As a result that percentage could, in reality, be a lot higher.
