Toshiba has launched its 2009 DVD line-up that includes both portable models, DVD players and recorders.

The portables range features four models, all of which get support for DVD, DVD-R/-RW, CD and CD-R/RW along with DivX playback, JPEG picture viewing and MP3 compatibility.

The SDP93SWE and SDP92SKB get a tablet PC-esque 9-inch LCD flexible rotating display, that, with a central swivel point, offers multiple viewing angles.

Both offer an SD card slot, 500:1 contrast ratios and 200cdm2 brightness, while the step-up SDP93SWE comes in a shiny white finish and gets 5 hours (compared to the SDP92SKB's 3) battery life.

With a white exterior and black interior, the SDP73SWE offers a 7-inch screen and 5 hours of battery life as well as an SD card slot.

The SDP63SWB is the entry-level option with a 7-inch widescreen, 480 x 234 resolution, contrast ratio of 300:1, and battery life of up to 2.5 hours.

With the range priced from £99.99 to £199.99, the SDP63SWB and SDP73SWE will be available by the end of March and the SDP93SWE and SDP92SKB will be available by the end of May.

Toshiba also launched five DVD players for 2009, including three 1080p upscaling models. For 2009 the range gets a slimline design while "stand-out" features include DivX codec support, JPEG and HD JPEG viewing capabilities and MP3 playback.

In addition, the company has launched five DVD recorders for 2009, with 1080p upscaling incorporated across the range and Freeview+ on VHS/DVD combi models.
