Further to the glimpse we brought you from CES in January, Toshiba has announced the launch of its SV Series ("the most advanced Toshiba LCD TV model ever to launch") into the UK market.

There's a few reasons Tosh is claiming such an accolade for the new SVs. Three of which are Resolution+ technology, Active Vision M200HD picture processing and an RGB LED backlight.

Available in 46 and 55 inches, each model gets a digital tuner, Toshiba's "MetaBrain engine", Dolby Volume that promises even sound, DLNA technology, a game mode and four HDMI "InstaPort" ports.

With a dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and 10-Bit processing, the new TVs also offer "AutoView" which measures the room conditions alongside content for the best possible picture.

The new SV series is also capable of MP3 and DivX video playback via USB (with the DivX content upscaled too) and gets an SD card slot for viewing JPEGS.

With Toshiba's "Deep Lagoon" design, the frame is gloss black with gradual colour gradation fading to white on the outer extremities.

Complete with an off button (woo-hoo!) the new Toshiba REGZA SV series will be available from August 2009.
