Toshiba has announced the launch of a number of new DVD standalone players, recorders and portable players today.

The two new recorders are the RD-85DT and D-R160 and both com with built in TV tuners.

Toshiba's latest HDD recorder, the RD-85DT has an integrated digital tuner providing access to over 35 extra Freeview channels plus a 160GB hard disc drive.

It allows up to 284 hours of recording, which can be direct from the digital tuner and offers a full 8 day EPG with view/record, digital text, favourite channel list and parental lock functions. Additional features include PAL Progressive scan, component video output, Timeslip recording and a 32 event/2 month timer.

The flagship RD-85DT has multiple recording modes, XP, SP, LP and manual, and is DVD-RAM (VR format), DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-ROM, CD and MP3 compatible.

The D-R160 supports DVD-R and -RW recording formats and is equipped with Timeslip recording with Chase TV, and PAL progressive scan. It is JPEG, CD, CD-R, CD-RW and MP3 and features an eight event/1-month timer. It also has front A/V input (including S-video), component video output and coax digital output.

Also available in Toshiba's DVD recorder range is the D-VR16 combi DVD and video recorder and RD-XS24.

To follow this new range with an Autumn/Winter 2006 launch, will be the RD-XS25 and RD-XV45.
