Toshiba has jumped head first into the Freeview HD party with the announcement it will launch a new range of televisions that will come Freeview HD enabled alongside a second announcement of a dedicated set top PVR.

The new Regza RV Series launches as one of the first Toshiba LCD TVs with a DVB-T2 tuner, thus providing compatibility with Freeview HD and allowing users to watch terrestrial HD broadcasts via existing TV aerials without the need for an external set-top box.

Completely removing the need for satellite subscriptions or HD dish installations, Freeview HD will provide viewers with free access to an ever-growing selection of terrestrial HD content,

The Toshiba REGZA RV Series will be available in 32-, 37-, and 40-inch screen sizes all sporting 1080p picture resolution.

Other tech included in the box will be Toshiba's Active Vision II (50Hz), MetaBrain Engine, Resolution+, Dolby Volume, and AutoView all attempting to make the picture even better.

Connectivity will come in the guise of the RV being wireless ready (DLNA, certified for Windows 7) and offering 4x HDMI sockets so you can connect the usual array of Blu-ray players, games consoles and anything else you can find.

The new sets should be available from April.
