Looks like you'll be waiting a while Star Wars fans. Directed by JJ Abrams, Star Wars: Episode VII is coming to cinemas on 18 December 2015, Lucasfilm and Disney announced on Thursday.
With the new Star Wars, Abrams wants to go back to the aesthetic of the first films making it dirtier, more like the Wild West rather than the gleaming futuristic world of the new films, he revealed earlier this week. You'll have plenty of time, two years actually, to fantasise about what this means.
"We're very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture," said Alan Horn, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, in a release on Thursday.
Shooting for the highly anticipated film hasn't begun, and won't start until 2014 at Pinewood Studios situated in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, approximately 20 miles west of central London.
