Sony has launched its RHT-G Series of TV stands, boasting integrated multi-channel surround sound without visible speakers or cabling.

The two new models cater for a wide range of TV sizes. The RHT-G950 is designed for 40- to 46-inch TVs, while the RHT-G550 is intended for use with 32- to 40-inch screens.

The RHT-G950 also incorporates 5.1-channel speaker arrays, with a total output of 470W respectively, while the smaller RHT-G550 features 3.1-channel audio with a combined output of 330W.

Both stands feature a space saving design that allow them to fit further back into the corner of a room, and have been optimised for front surround audio.

However, Sony says its newly enhanced S-Force Pro Front Surround technology gives an "immersive surround effect" without the need for speakers at the rear of the room.

The S-Master digital amplification and signal processing promises rich, detailed sound and features, like the vibration-damped sub-woofer and a bass-reduced "night mode", ensuring sound quality remains good whether loud or quiet.

The stand has 12 selectable sound modes, and boasts three HDMI ports, a digital media port for your MP3 player and radio thanks to the integrated FM/AM tuner. Bravia Sync technology also allows the stand to turn on and off at the same time as the TV.

The RHT-950 will be available in stores in May, and the RHT-550 in July. Prices are to be confirmed.
