Sony's XEL-1 OLED television has finally gone on sale in the UK, around a year after it hit shop shelves in the States.

The first-ever OLED TV to launch in Europe, as most of you likely know by now the 3mm thick, 11-inch set offers a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a picture quality that Pocket-lint's reviewer described as "stunning".

Although slated to cost around the £1300 mark when it launched in Blighty, it seems the price will actually be a jaw-dropping £3489.

In the States the XEL-1 is on sale through Sony's official SonyStyle shop for $2499, a price point that converts to £1750, so we're not quite sure where that other £1700 UK charge comes in.
