Sky has released an update for its Sky Go iOS and Android applications, overhauling the interface to bring a new, cleaner look to the proceedings and one that is more in keeping with the company's set-top box user interface.

The refreshed design includes enhanced navigation to make it even easier to find and watch more of your favourite shows, and bigger thumbnail images when you are browsing the On Demand library.

New to the apps is the ability to see quickly what is on now or next. But users won't now be able to see what's on for the rest of the day as they have previously. This does simplify things, but means that if you enjoyed this feature, you'll have to open up the Sky Remote app instead.

On the iPad version, there is also a greater focus on highlighting the On Demand content, making it easier to see what's available pictorially rather than having to read lists of text. All versions now add selected Sky Sports highlights.

Sky TV customers will be able to use the new-look app to access up to 39 channels on mobile and tablets - 14 of which were added in the last 12 months, including Channel 4, More4, Disney, Cartoon Network, SyFy and Universal.

The app will also be updated for users of Xbox, to give it the latest Microsoft user interface, later in the month.
