The days of fighting for the remote control are over. Sky has updated its Sky Remote for iPhone app to bring the same remote control features to the Apple phone as previously found on the iPad version of the app.

The latest update to the Sky+ app for iPhone means viewers can now use the app to change channels as they watch live TV, as well as pause, play and rewind TV with a swipe or tap of their finger on the screen of their phone.

Furthermore, as is the case with the iPad version, the app now also offers Sky TV customers full access to their Sky+ planner through their iPhone - meaning they can browse all their existing recordings on their Sky+HD set-top box, as well as set up and delete recordings on their planner - all without interrupting viewing on the main TV.

All Sky customers need to do to enjoy the latest extra features is connect their Sky+HD box to the same WiFi network as their iOS device.

Sky says the new features will be coming to Android handsets in the coming months.
