Already launched, Philips has announced the availability of its latest 9604 100Hz series TVs - 32PFL9604 and 37PFL9604 - for the UK.

Offering Philips' most powerful processing chip, the 2009 Perfect Pixel HD engine, this boasts improved contrast and the highest perceived light output with the new Perfect Contrast feature.

Also included is the latest version of the Ambilight Spectra 2 system, which, with four colour zones on each side of the screen, claims to provide "deeper viewing immersion". The sets also get NetTV which allows viewers to wirelessly connect to the Internet and access online information and entertainment via the remote control.

Specs include a 80,000:1 Dynamic Contrast ratio, 2-millisecond response time, five HDMI 1.3a EasyLink sockets and a real aluminium, charcoal grey frame with 2 x 15 Watt speakers integrated below. The 32PFL9604 and 37PFL9604 will go on sale in June with an estimated selling price of £999 and £1299 respectively.
