Philips has been showing off its Ambilight Hue integration at the Pocket-lint Tech Tavern on Thursday showing us how when you combine the two together you can light up your entire room with light that matches what's on the screen.

Ambilight, which has been around for over 10 years now, has gone beyond the television surround and can now connect to the Philips Hue lighting system.

All 2013 Philips TVs support the new feature via an accompanying app, while the latest 2014 TV have the feature built in as standard.

At the Tech Tavern we saw the system working with a standard Philips Hue bulb and the company's Bloom light with the lights changing in real-time as the movie on screen played.

To celebrate the fact, Philips has commission a special surfing movie to really showcase the experience.

If you are worried that your living room is going to go too crazy with the light fantastic you shouldn't Philips tells us that you can set the amount of immersion you want to get with a quick slide of the immersion slider
