Chromecast has received a huge update that brings support for 10 apps and services, enabling users to cast a wide array of content to their television such as action sports, news, music videos, and more.

Specifically, Google's streaming dongle now supports the following apps: VEVO, Songza, Red Bull.TV, PostTV, Viki, Revision 3, and BeyondPod. Google also revealed in a Google+ post that users can now use Chromecast to cast their own local media using Plex, Avia or RealPlayer Cloud.

A Cast icon will appear in these apps and services whenever it is possible to cast content from a smartphone or laptop to a television. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection, and then you can start casting with just one tap or a click.

To use these services apps and services with your Chromecast dongle, Google says you'll need the latest versions of Android or iOS on your smartphone. You can also use the Chrome browser to cast to your television.
