A Swedish company by the name of People of Lava has become the first to announce plans for an Android-based television.

The 42-inch LED screen will go into beta testing in the early summer and, if successful, will be followed by 47- and 55-inch bigger brothers. The first of the sets is likely to cost around the $3000 mark and will come with a web browser, Google Maps and other apps as well, hopefully including access to a number of video streaming and IPTV services over the OS platform.

It's an interesting move from the Scandinavian company and certainly an interesting insight as to how Google's set top box might look, however a lot depends on how straight forward People of Lava makes the interface. Too much filling in text fields could be a bit of a killer and a touchscreen TV rather misses the point.
