Elgato has finally worked out a way of getting around Apple's 3G video streaming restrictions on the iPhone, and is launching a web app that allows TV watching over a 3G connection.

As previously reported, Elgato had its EyeTV app pulled back in October after accidentally leaving in code that permitted the watching of streaming video on a 3G connection - something which is expressly prohibited by Apple.

By creating a web app, though, Elgato can do whatever it likes. So if you're an EyeTV user and you want to watch live TV on the bus, or in other places when you don't have access to Wi-Fi, then point your phone browser to http://live3g.eyetv.com.

You'll need Elgato EyeTV hardware, and version 3.3 of the EyeTV software installed on your Mac. If you don't have the latest version, then starting up the software should immediately prompt you for an upgrade.
