(Pocket-lint) - Dolby is working with Odeon to build the UK's second Dolby Cinema in Leeds. It'll be in The Springs retail and leisure park which first opened last October.

The Odeon Luxe Leeds Thorpe Park follows on from Dolby's sensitive conversion of the iconic Odeon Leicester Square into a Luxe Dolby Cinema, featuring Dolby Atmos sound and dual Dolby Vision 4K laser projection.

The 263 seat Dolby Cinema screen in Leeds will have reclining seats like other Odeon Luxe locations and will be part of a larger 10 screen multiplex at the site serving the east of Leeds.

Odeon Luxe Thorpe Park is a ten-screen 44,000 sq ft cinema above the boulevard of restaurants at The Springs. It's set to open within the coming months. The Dolby Cinema itself will be significantly smaller than London's, which offers 800 seats over two levels.

One of the other screens - with 173 seats - will be a curved wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-ceiling Odeon iSense screen measuring 15 x 6m with 4K projection and Dolby Atmos.

We visited Odeon Luxe Leicester Square when it was under construction and we've also been again recently to the world premiere of Alita: Battle Angel.

The work performed on the historic Leicester Square building is extensive, but it's nothing compared to the stunning sound from the Atmos speakers (as well as the remarkable picture of course). The London screen boasts over 400 Dolby Atmos speakers in a specially-designed system to cater for the split-level cinema.
