Denon has launched a new upscaling DVD player that incorporates professional-grade video processing technology, but at a more affordable price.

The DVD-2930 not only upscales standard-definition discs, but also plays CDs.

Denon promises that the technology used to upscale the picture, Reon VX, minimises noise as well as enhances sharpness.

Although much of the technology comes from the VD-A1XVA from Denon that costs £2700, it incorporates a new user interface and clear on-screen displays.

It's one of the first DVD players to use 10-bit video processing, and also supports DivX 6.

Connectivity includes an HDMI socket, Component, Composite, S-Video and Scart slots, as well as 5.1-channel audio output, among others.

The DVD-2930 costs £650 and will be available next month.
