As with the recent record-breaking Wimbledon stats revealed by the Beeb, record numbers of people watched this year's Glastonbury Festival on-demand through the BBC Glastonbury website or the BBC Red Button function.

The BBC's festival website, with highlights of over 60 acts – received 7.2 million video requests, with Lady Gaga's topping the pops with 1.3 million requests followed by Lily Allen with 762,000 and Blur with 538,000 requests.

On the Saturday the website saw 229,000 daily unique users, while more than 6.1 million viewers watched the coverage over the 3-day event, making it the most popular music event ever shown on the BBC's Red Button.

Out of interest, as far as TV views go, over the weekend, 16.33 million viewers tuned into television coverage of the event on BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Four.
