Amazon Prime Instant has signed a new deal with BBC Worldwide to range a number of classic drama and comedy series as part of the streaming subscription service.

Shows now available include Doctor Who, Sherlock, Call the Midwife, Life on Mars and Last Tango in Halifax. Much-loved comedies are also included in the deal, with Blackadder, Only Foold and Horses and The Office among many others.

Episodes of Top Gear are also now available on the service formerly known as Lovefilm, which now comes as part of a restructured Amazon Prime subscription.

Amazon Prime also offers free next-day delivery and, for Kindle owners, a lending library of over half a million books that can be borrowed one-at-a-time for free. Rather than a monthly fee, like with rival Netflix, the service costs £79 a year.

As well as a name change to suit the service in the US, Amazon Instant Prime now also offers digital movies and TV shows to rent or buy. They are kept in the cloud, accessible through your Amazon account.
