Amazon Prime Instant Video has secured the streaming rights to Ripper Street, the acclaimed BBC drama, and will commission a third series, airing exclusive episodes before the new series is shown on BBC1.

Today has seen the launch of Amazon Prime Instant Video in the UK, rebranding the Lovefilm service and rolling video into the package offered under the Amazon Prime service, along with a £30 price hike for Prime members.

Amazon appears to be in the process of shoring up the video offering, with Ripper Street being the latest addition, along with political satire Alpha House and a collection of Warner Bros TV shows including Arrow, The Following, Hostages, Revolution and The 100.
