Apple gave its Apple TV a hefty update on Tuesday, adding several new apps to the platform to give customers more access to content. As previously reported, the Vevo music video app is now available, along with the Disney Channel, Disney XD, Smithsonian Channel, and The Weather Channel.

Apple didn't release an official announcement on the matter. The update simply began rolling out to Apple TVs on Tuesday, and the company updated its Apple TV to note the changes.

But Vevo was quick to announce the news with a press release. "VEVO on Apple TV brings VEVO’s library of 75,000 HD music videos, exclusive original programming and live concert performances to Apple TV viewers," it said.

The app's user interface includes categories for specific genres and Vevo TV, which offers up a MTV style, 24-hour music video stream.

On the Weather Channel app you'll find conditions for your area along with access to Weather Channel original programming. The Smithsonian Channel, Disney Channel, and Disney XD apps have live television access, as long as your cable or satellite provides it. Those include AT&T U-verse, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Midcontinent Communications, Optimum, and Verizon FiOS.

All of the apps are now available in the US, with UK users limited on some of the content.

Of course, Apple has made a stand for a long time against bringing the App Store to the Apple TV, and instead releases dedicated channels for third-party services it has hand picked. Tuesday's additions come after HBO GO, WatchESPN, and Sky News launched on the Apple TV in June.
