An Apple HDTV will have a built-in camera for FaceTime video calls as well as Siri for voice commands, according to a source that claims to have seen a prototype.
Cultofmac.com quotes the “anonymous” source as saying the TV resembles Apple’s LED-backlit Cinema Displays but that it is “much bigger” and has an iSight camera embedded in the front of the display.
Rumours of an Apple TV have been rife since Steve Jobs was said to have “cracked TV”, in a biography on the late CEO.
However, apart from Apple’s dalliance with Apple TV, it remains an area untouched by the Cupertino giant - so far at least.
Of course it’s difficult to ascertain the validity of this latest rumour and, because it's a prototype, it may well resemble something entirely different by launch.
However, what ever shape or features it is or isn’t said to have, an Apple HDTV is becoming increasingly likely.
Foxconn, Apple’s Chinese supplier, has invested $1.6 billion in Sharp’s TV unit, suggesting the manufacturer is gearing up for a serious assault on the TV market.
Possibly by 2013.
