A new Freesat set-top box has hit the market from German company TechniSat.

As well as providing access to the 140-plus Freesat channels available, the high-definition digital box, the TechniSat "HDFS", can also playback media from a variety of devices.

The box will playback movies, music and pictures from flash drives thanks to its front and rear USB ports, memory cards with its MS/SD/MMC and CompactFlash card reader, or from a PC using the LAN connection or a TechniSat Wi-Fi adaptor.

The receiver is also said to be eco-friendly, consuming 0.25 watts in standby mode and comes with a 3-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

The HDFS is available now from Currys, Comet, Maplin, Alltrade and Double D for around £175 to £180.
