JVC has followed Hitachi in announcing a new range of LCD televisions that are just 1.5-inches thick at CES in Las Vegas.

The new TVs, which have been designed to give a super-slim appearance from nearly any angle measure 1.5 inches (39mm) deep, with a maximum depth of just 2.9-inches (74mm) at the panel’s center.

The new super-slim design will be available in two screen sizes in the US, the 42-inch LT-42SL89 and the 46-inch LT-46SL89. Both offer 1920 x 1080p resolution.

Both models will be VESA compliant for easy wall mounting, but JVC will also offer its own mounting solution – a wall mount designed to position the slim TV closer to the wall than a standard mount does.

The new JVC super-slim LT-42SL89 and LT-46SL89 will be available in early summer.

Prices will be announced at that time.

Not surprisingly the new line of super-slim Full HD TVs also promise to weigh less and consume less power than conventional LCD TVs.
