Kef, the speaker manufacturer, is hoping that the return of high gloss black furniture and appliances is back in time for Christmas with the announcement of its latest speaker system - the KIT 200.

The kit, which offers a 5.1 DVD home theatre system, comprising five speakers and a subwoofer will cost a rather steep £1500.

Utilising the same DVD unit, and subwoofer as the KIT 100 model we reviewed back in March, the KIT 200 offers the more traditional five-speaker set up. It incorporates satellite column speaker enclosures from KHT5005 with improved drivers to create a more powerful sound.

Specially designed connectors are used to simplify the set-up and Kef suggests that all you need to do it plug in the mains, connect the system to the TV and you're ready to go!

The KEF instant theatre is available from Selfridges, selected branches of Harrods and independent audio-visual retailers nationwide at a retail price of around £1500 (including VAT).
