Thomson throws a curve ball: more affordable curved UHD TVs from September

If you thought that you needed to look to Samsung or LG for your curved UHD TV, then you'd be wrong: TCL, under the Thomson brand, will be launching its own curved UHD TV at IFA 2014 in September.
Teasing the announcement at the IFA Global Press Conference 2014, in Belek, Turkey, Antoine Salomé, marketing director Europe for TCL, outlined a number of Thomson-branded 4K UHD models, before revealing the plans for the curved TV.
The 65-inch curved TV will give you a cracking 3840 x 2160 resolution, a 400Hz Clear Motion refresh rate and full HD 3D experience, wrapped in a package with a skinny 5mm bezel.
The curved UHD set will offer the usual smart TV functions, along with DLNA compatibility through built-in Wi-Fi, and compliance with key IPTV services for the European market.
There's no word on exact pricing, but it's a safe bet that the Thomson set will be cheaper than current rivals. More details will be revealed at IFA 2014.
Salomé also teased that TCL would be unveiling the largest "jumbo" curved TV yet at IFA 2014, but remained tight-lipped on the exact specifications.
You can expect the usual run of "world's largest" and "world's first" come IFA 2014 in September.
