3D specs aren't cool. That's just the way it is we're afraid. Even when fashion-specialists like Oakley produce 3D specs, you're hardly likely to win any style prizes.

But hang on, what's this? Tron: Legacy limited edition Oakley 3D eyewear? Now you're talking - that is cool. Well, geek-cool at least.

The special edition glasses are to mark the much anticipated release of Tron: Legacy, which is due to hit cinemas in December.

The specs have HDO-3D tech built in, which involves lens innovations that have, according to Oakley at least, "achieved the first optically correct 3D eyewear on Earth". The 3D lenses also promise to virtually eliminate crosstalk and they have a greater curvature around the eyes for a wider field of view.

Finally, there is a three-point fit that keeps the lenses in the correct optical alignment, thus eliminating unbalanced pressure points.

Plus, there's some funky Tron inspired graphics on board as well, what more could you want?

"The premiere of Tron: Legacy is a great opportunity for us to introduce moviegoers to the unique innovations of Oakley 3D eyewear", said Oakley CEO Colin Baden.

"This film will be an incredible visual experience, and those who view it with Oakley 3D eyewear will get the most out of it by enjoying the clarity and 3D performance of unparalleled design. We are honoured to collaborate with Disney for this special event, and we look forward to opening the world’s eyes to the ultimate 3D experience with Oakley 3D eyewear".

These 3D Oakley bins will set you back $150 and will be available from November at Sunglass Hut, or online at Oakley.com.
