Toshiba has lifted the lid a couple of Windows 8.1 tablet devices that won't break the bank.

The Toshiba Encore 2 range comes in two different screen sizes, 8- and 10.1-inch, with 1280 x 800 resolutions.

They are powered by Intel Atom processors, have 1GB and 2GB of RAM on board respectively to keep things ticking along nicely, and each come with a one-year Microsoft Office 365 subscription that gives access both online and off to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the other Office suite applications.

OneDrive online storage and Skype phones minutes are also included in the price.

Both tablets sport 32GB of internal storage, a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.2-megapixel snapper on the front. They have two 0.5W stereo speakers apiece, with Dolby Digital Plus.

The Toshiba Encore 2 WT10-A 10.1-inch device has a micro USB 2.0 port, micro HDMI output, microSD card slot with support for up to 128GB cards. And the 8-inch WT8-B has the same but without the HDMI socket.

They will be available in Europe in the third quarter of 2014 and although UK prices are yet to be confirmed, they will start at $200 in the States, so expect around £150 to £180.
