(Pocket-lint) - Toshiba has unveiled a quad-core powered tablet that may pack a punch, but also - the manufacturer hopes - won't look out of place at Paris Fashion Week.

The Toshiba AT300 boasts a 10.1-inch LED backlit display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, with 10-finger multi-touch support, should you need it. The screen itself is Corning Gorilla Glass, which should ensure it stays scratch free for the foreseeable.

Launched with Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, as Google has so far refused to upgrade its tablet-optimised Honeycomb OS, bar the odd tweak, this is the best we could hope for.

With its quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, Toshiba is championing the AT300’s multimedia credentials, in particular with regards to gaming and HD video playback. Well, we say quad-core -Toshiba has actually squeezed in a fifth engine that deals with more run-of-the-mill tasks. The manufacturer says this will help extend the battery life to 10 hours.

Available as 16GB or 32GB variant (there’s also multimedia card support)  the AT300 tablet is kitted out with a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper for video calls, with an LED flash for both.

Though the AT300 will of course have access to Android apps via Google Play, the tablet will also come pre-installed with Toshiba Places, which is an alternative store for music, movies and eBooks. With a micro-HDMI port any content, be it games, videos or photos, can be played on a bigger screen.

All this and Toshiba has managed to squeeze it all in a device that measures just 8.8mm thick and weighs 590g.

There’s no word on pricing from Toshiba just yet, but with the AT300 set to arrive before the end of June we should have that info very soon.

UPDATE  Pocket-lint has spoken to Toshiba, which confirmed that the 16GB version of the AT300 will be available for £329 (the same price as a 16GB iPad 2 incidentally) while the 32GB version will cost £379.
