Tablet photography can annoy some people, while others don't see a problem with it. It appears Sony is siding with the tablet photographers by allowing them to attach its QX lenses to the back of its slates.

Sony's SPA-TA1 is a mount that reaches across the back of a tablet like the Xperia Tablet Z or Vaio Tap 11. QC lens cameras can then be attached for high-quality photography viewable on the tablet's large screen.

The adapter will allow use of the QX100 camera lens, for example, which has a 20-megapixel sensor, 3.6x zoom and Zeiss optics - all for £399.

At this early stage the lens adapter will be released only in Japan. It will go on sale for the British equivalent of £22. But there is no word on a UK or US release date at the moment.

To be honest, encouraging people to carry big tablets at awkward angles, with a camera weight on the back, is just asking for trouble.
