Samsung has revealed that it is bringing the Galaxy Tab A to the UK, after successful launches in other regions.
The affordable Android Lollipop device will come in three models - Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi with S Pen stylus, and LTE - and be available from 21 May.
It is effectively the Korean company's answer to the iPad mini, coming with the same screen size of 9.7-inches and being 4:3 in aspect ratio, and priced similarly too (if compared with older generation Apple devices that are still available).
Although a UK price is yet to be revealed, the US version starts at $300, around £190 on current exchange rates, although taxes and country-specific levies will probably push that north of £200-£250.
Bar their data connectivity, each of the models is the same. They measure 166.8 x 242.5 x 7.5mm and have HD screens (1024 x 768). Each tablet has a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, with 1.5GB of RAM on the Wi-Fi-only model, 2GB of RAM on the others and 16GB of storage. There's also a microSD card slot capable of expanding the storage capacity by up to a further 128GB.

The rear camera is 5-megapixels, while the front is 2-megapixels, and there's a 6,000mAh battery in each device proving up to 10 hours of use. The LTE model works on all UK 4G bands.
Purchasers of any of the Galaxy Tab A models get 115GB of free cloud storage through Microsoft's OneDrive and the Microsoft Office suite of apps come pre-installed. Skype too.
