(Pocket-lint) - Samsung may be planning a 12.2-inch Galaxy Note tablet, if benchmarks appearing on the web are to be believed. A plus-sized tablet would add to its Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Note 3 line. The new tablet would not only be a screen-size beast, but have powerful specifications underneath as well.

Benchmark-watchers AnTuTu say Samsung's 12.2-inch tablet will boast a speedy quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 8-megapixel rear-camera, 2-megapixel front-camera, and at least 32GB of storage. As for the screen, it's expected to come in at 12.2-inches and have a pixel density of 1600 x 2560, making for a pretty sharp experience.

The rumours of a larger Samsung tablet come after years of rumours of a larger iPad from Apple. Samsung hasn't publicly commented on expanding past 10.1-inches. Apple on the other hand is said to be working on a 12.9-inch iPad model, but of course in its secret ways, hasn't said anything either.

A large tablet out of Samsung doesn't sound out of the question, given it was the company who lead the phablet charge a few years ago. A tablet as large as 12-inches could be seen as better for viewing movies and web browsing - portability may be a bit of an issue, though.

There's no word on when Samsung may launch the Galaxy Note 12.2, but if we had to speculate CES 2014 or Mobile World Congress next year sound likely. With any rumours of this nature, we advise you to take it with a healthy dose of salt.
