Not content with the UK-wide launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 today, a page has appeared on Amazon showing its smaller sibling, the Tab 8.9, available for pre-order.

The listed price currently stands at £605 and, according to the site, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 should be in stock on 12 August 2011.

However, caution is advised, and we're highly sceptical as the Samsung tablet in question is quite clearly not being sold by Amazon, it's being sold and dispatched by Atelco Computer AG - an Amazon marketplace seller. And our contacts at Samsung have previously hinted that we'd have to wait for the 8.9-inch version.

Additionally, as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is on sale from £399, that £605 price tag seems pretty unlikely - even with 3G on board.

There's also a change to when the company were expecting to have the tablet in stock, earlier reports suggest that the company claimed a 11 August date which has now changed to the 12. And clicking through to the Alteco store front on Amazon showed that, predominantly, the company deals with the peripheral side of the market.

If we were to guess, it would be more likely that Samsung will wait until IFA in Berlin at the very end of August, beginning of September, to make any official announcements on its Galaxy Tab 8.9.

The changeable guide slot on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Keyboard Dock suggests that the smaller iteration on its, way, but if it's available from next week, we'll eat our Book Cover cases.
