Samsung has announced that it will launch a Wi-Fi only version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab in the next couple of months giving people who don’t need or want to be connected around the clock the chance to get in on the device without having to snap up a contract.

Samsung Mobile announced the WiFi-only Samsung Galaxy Tab™ will be available for purchase in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2011.

Like the current model the Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi only will run on Android 2.2 (Froyo) and features a 7-inch TFT display with 1024 x 600 WSVGA resolution.

No word however whether the device will be getting a update to Android 3.0 that’s been announced at CES in Las Vegas, or a price.

For UK readers we are also trying to determine whether or not Samsung will be launching a Wi-Fi only version in the British Isles.

We will keep you posted.
