Polaroid has updated its Kids Tablet by introducing Kids Tablet 2 running the Android 4.2 OS, and it comes with 70 pre-loaded apps.
The 7-inch Kids Tablet 2 has an 1024 x 600-pixel HD display, dual-core 1.6GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 1GB of RAM, front and rear cameras and support for Wi-Fi connectivity. Other specs include a 3.5mm headphone jack, built-in microphone and front-mounted speaker.
While all that sounds perfect for a child, the real pull to this tablet is content. It has numerous books, games and apps pre-loaded - worth more than $100 in value. Specifically, the Kids Tablet 2 features full versions of 25 top-rated books and apps from Disney, Marvel and Cartoon Network.
"Children can learn to read with the help of comic book superheroes Spiderman, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk or play fun and exciting games with characters from Toy Story, Wreck-It Ralph and Cars," Polaroid said in a release.
Aside from books and games, there are also apps for creativity. A Kids Cam app lets children make use of the new front and rear cameras, including options for snapping photos and videos with music and special effects. Youngsters can also make music with the tablet’s DJ Studio.
Parents might not like the $149 (£93) price tag, but they can at least rest assure that their money is going toward a tough, rugged tablet. This 7-inch slate has a rubberised design meant to withstand throwing and all sorts of rough behaviour. The buttons are big and easy to press, as well.
Polaroid is selling the Kids Tablet 2 through Toys R Us.
