Nokia has just revealed its N1 Android tablet with Intel 64-bit innards and a look very similar to the iPad mini.

The Nokia N1 is a 7.9-inch tablet with the same zero-air-gap display that Nokia's phones were loved for. It's also a 4:3 ratio, just like the iPad mini which might have been criticised for not being 16:9 but it would seem is now leading the way. The resolution of the IPS panel is 2048 x 1536 for 324ppi and it's all protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

The Android tablet is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor running at 2.3GHz and backed by 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and PowerVR G6430 graphics at 533MHz plus 32GB of eMMC 5.0 storage. It will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop right out of the box.

The build is a single piece of aluminium with an anodised surface that sits 6.9mm thin and weighs in at 318g. It will come in Natural Aluminium or Lava Gray.

In the rear is an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus while the front-facing snapper is capable of 5-megapixel selfies. The tablet can also manage 1080p video recording. The N1 also features two 0.5W stereo speakers capable of 90dB audio.

The battery is a 5,300mAh whopper of a lithium polymer unit that should keep the device going for plenty of time. There is also dual channel 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

Nokia is also eager to announced its Nokia Z Launcher which adapts to the way you use the tablet so as to make it easier to use the more it gets to know you. Nokia describes it saying: "Simply scribble a letter or two with your finger and Nokia Z Launcher brings up the things you want to know, do, and discover."

Nokia says it will cost $249 which is about £158. It will launch in China first on February 19 then will begin rolling out to the rest of the world.
