(Pocket-lint) - Exactly one week after Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 3, its Microsoft Store in the UK has announced huge price drops for the Surface Pro 2.

The Surface Pro 3 display is two inches larger than the Surface Pro 2, bringing a 12-inch screen to the Surface family. But the size isn't the only thing that was increased. With a newer, bigger, and brawnier Surface Pro tablet now available, most Windows consumers are likely uninterested in the Surface Pro 2. It's therefore safe to say Microsoft has some Surface Pro 2 units it needs to distribute. And that's probably why it is now marking down the year-old PC tablet.

"Microsoft Store UK has announced savings of up to £150 for the Surface Pro 2, available now", revealed Microsoft in a press release. "Surface Pro 2 is a true laptop replacement, capable of running virtually all your Windows software including the full Microsoft Office suite, as well as apps from the Windows Store. Surface Pro 2 offers the portability and simplicity of a tablet when you want it and the power and flexibility of a laptop when you need it."

You can now grab the Surface Pro 2 64GB variant for £569 or the Surface Pro 2 512GB variant for £1,289, both with £150 savings. Microsoft Store UK is also offering a £140 savings on the Surface Pro 2 128GB variant and the Surface Pro 2 256GB variant. They've been reduced to £659 and £899, respectively.

It's worth noting that the launch price for the Surface Pro 3 in the UK starts at £639.
