Microsoft has announced that its pre-order page is ready to start taking orders on the Surface 2 (4G) for delivery in the UK on 8 May.

The latest version of the Surface 2 comes with a bay for a micro SIM which is capable of supporting up to 4G LTE networks. The contract will be down to the user to sort out.

The Microsoft Surface 2 (4G) ships with Windows RT 8.1 and is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 4 processor. The 10.6-inch screen pumps out a 1920 x 1080 resolution and should last for 10-hours of use. Connectivity is plentiful from Bluetooth 4.0 to a full-sized USB 3.0 port.

4G LTE means this mobile tablet can always be connected. So sharing 1080p videos shot on it or documents made in Office, which comes pre-installed, is possible anywhere. OneDrive users are able to take advantage of 200GB of storage that comes with the purchase and lasts for two years. Skype users can enjoy free unlimited minutes and Wi-Fi hotspots for a year.

The Microsoft Surface 2 (4G) will come in a 64GB version only and is available from 8 May in the UK. Users can pre-order now from Microsoft for £540.
