(Pocket-lint) - Microsoft has just unveiled the Surface Pro 2 and with it has come a flurry of accessories to enhance the slate.

The new Type Cover 2 is 1mm thinner than the last cover, which doesn't sound like much but when it was only 2.5mm before that's noticeable at just 1.5mm thin. And somehow it's also backlit. But don't worry about battery as it's proximity activated so it will shut down when not in use. This will come in black, pink, blue and purple. It will cost £110 and is available for pre-order now.

The Touch Cover 2 has also slimmed down. It's both lighter and thinner but will still set you back £100.

The Power Cover will extend the battery life of a Surface Pro, Surface 2 or Surface Pro 2 by 50 per cent and will also act as a keyboard and cover. Pricing is not yet announced and this is due in early 2014.

There's also a Docking Station that's been announced. This adds a host of connectivity including three USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0, a mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, plus audio input/output. This beauty can power up to a 3840 x 2160 resolution display - effectively turning it into a full PC. Pricing and release date will follow but for now Microsoft is saying early 2014 for the dock.

An Arc Touch Mouse has been announced for Surface. This uses BlueTack Technology for accuracy and it also flattens for portability. It connects via Bluetooth 3.0 and goes on sale in the US for $70 (£43) on 24 September. A UK release date and price is still to be announced in the coming months.

A car charger with USB has also been announced. This works in most cars, will cost $50 (£31) and goes on sale in early 2014.
