Microsoft hasn't been shy in its advertising tactics against competitors. Following several advertisements pitting full-sized Windows 8 tablets against Apple's iPad, the Redmond-based company has done it again with the iPad mini. 

Specifically, Microsoft uses the 8.1-inch Acer Iconia W3 to compare to the 7.9-inch iPad mini. The sound of Apple's Siri voice is heard throughout the advertisement to sound sluggish, in an overall attempt to show Windows 8 as being more powerful. Furthermore, the iPad mini is on iBooks throughout, while the Iconia W3 is doing powerful things like playing games, opening Excel spreadsheets and more.

Microsoft compares the prices of the two tablets in another attempt to get you to buy. The iPad mini costs $429 for the 32GB version, while the Acer Iconia W3 costs $299 for the 32GB version - perhaps giving price-conscious customers a clear choice.

In the past, Microsoft has not only compared its tablets and those of competitors, but smartphones as well. In May, the flagship Windows Phone 8 Nokia Lumia 920 was pitted against the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 in a low-light camera battle. We had to take the results found in this low-light test with a pinch of salt as the Nokia is so absurdly good compared to the competition, that it makes us wonder just how the shot was set-up.
