Google has launched a promotion for the Nexus 7 in the UK. Customers buying the tablet from Currys & PC World, Tesco, Asda, Carphone Warehouse or will, for a "limited time" also receive £50 worth of credit to spend on the Google Play store.

The offer is for those who buy the £200 16GB model by 1 June. They have up to 30 days to redeem the offer from and require the purchase receipt to hand.

The credit can be used on any items in the Play store, including apps, music, movies and TV shows.

It's a very generous promotion that has lead some to believe, Pocket-lint included, that a new Nexus tablet device is on the way. There has been a lot of talk recently about a Nexus 8 8-inch device, possibly made by HTC, and it would make sense for Google to clear stock of the 2013 model before an announcement.

After all, Google I/O begins on 25 June.
