Google unexpectedly announced a white version of the Nexus 7 on Tuesday. It's available on Google Play in the US, UK and Japan for $269/£239 in a 32GB model - no 16GB or LTE model available.

The white Nexus 7 doesn't add anything in terms of new features - quite simply it's just a colour change. The back of the tablet is white, while the front sticks to its black roots.

The tablet features a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 HD display, 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, Wi-Fi, 2GB of RAM, 3,950mAh battery, wireless charging and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.

In our review of the Nexus 7, we called it sensibly priced, having a solid build, and a fantastic display. The limited battery capacity, awkward location of the front-facing camera, and its being not too much of an upgrade from the first Nexus 7 (2012) were our only knocks.

For intrepid tablet lovers this Christmas season, the white version of the Nexus 7 just may strike their fancy.
