During Google's announcement of the new Nexus 7 in San Francisco yesterday, it revealed that a universal SIM-free LTE version will also be available in the US and data packages will be offered on T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T. It has also been confirmed that the 4G model will also be coming to the UK in the next few weeks, priced at £299.

Hitting the market with Android 4.3 pre-installed, the new Nexus 7 has a higher-resolution screen than the previous generation and generally more oomph. There is a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM inside, while the 7-inch display has a resolution of 1920 x 1200, representing 323ppi.

The prices of both the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi models had been leaked by PC World, which also posted a UK street date of 13 September on its retail site's web pages, costing £199 and £239 respectively. But those who travel more and are willing to hook up to a data plan can now rest safe in the knowledge that the mobile data version is also coming over here.

At the moment, the British networks from which you'll be able to get a tablet SIM are unknown. Pocket-lint would expect it will be similar to the iPad or iPad mini though. All of the major networks have data plans for Apple's tablet devices; Three, O2, Vodafone, EE, Orange and T-Mobile.
