The Google Nexus 7 tablet will run on Android Jelly Bean 4.1, according to the latest rumours to emerge just days before Google’s I/O event.

Other details to be revealed include a 1.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, NFC capability enabling Google Wallet to be preloaded on the device and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Accroding to Gizmodo Australia, the 7-inch display will have a 178-degree viewing angle with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels while the tablet itself will come in two different price categories. Consumers will be able to purchase an 8GB variant for $199 or a 16GB version for $249.

Further details about the Google Nexus 7 will emerge at the internet giant’s big I/O event that is set to kick off in San Francisco on 27 June.

There’s been much speculation about who will manufacturer the device, with Asus and Motorola both being mooted. All will be revealed in the coming days, but you can read Pocket-lint's musings on what we think we can expect here.
