The Creative ZiiO 7 has received an Android update boost, with its makers announcing that the 7-inch tablet is to get access to Froyo and all the goodies that come with it.

We know, this is news that would have been much more exciting around 6 months ago (it's almost like the ZiiO 7 has turned up at a party just as everyone is grabbing their coats to leave), but it will still be a welcome boost to the Creative community, so long stuck in the Android 2.1 wilderness.

It will mean ZiiO 7 users will have the choice whether to install apps to the SD card or the internal memory, view web pages in full and mobile varieties, lock their device with a pin or password and also make use of the text-to-speech function.

The update will be available from from 25 March, and any new ZiiO 7s bought from now on will automatically be rocking 2.2.

Creative has also said the ZiiO 10 will begin shipping with Froyo next month.
