The Asus Transformer AiO P1801 desktop/tablet hybrid that was announced at CES 2013 is finally shipping to the masses.

The 18.5-inch all-in-one desktop computer can quickly turn into a huge tablet the moment you want to grab the monitor and go sit down on the couch. It runs Windows 8 in desktop mode and in tablet form-factor Android Jelly Bean, where you can play games or surf the web from the sofa.

It's a bit of a baffling product, but we have to give props to Asus for being a little innovative here. After its January announcement, it is now available for a price tag of $1,299 (£847) to the folks in the US.

Given its all-in-one nature, you switch between the operating systems by the press of a button. There is even a handle on the back of the device to let you carry the tablet element around as if it were a briefcase.

Specs for the P1801 are a third-generation Intel Core i5 processor, an Nvidia GeForce GT 730M GPU, 8GB of RAM, a 1-terabyte HDD, and DVD drive, most of which are tucked into the dock.

We're so used to making fun of phablets for their humongous take on phones, we don't even know where to start with this insanely large tablet.

At any rate, if you're so inclined for this new type of experience, you can find it at retailers like B&H. We've reached out to Asus for word on UK availability.
