ASUS has made its $149 (£98) MeMO Pad available in the US, following a launch in developing markets earlier this year. The Nexus 7 lookalike offers a solution for those shopping on the cheap for their first tablet.

The tablet takes the popular 7-inch form factor that has flooded the market in recent years. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but don't get it confused as being a part of the Nexus programme.

Inside the MeMO Pad specs are on the lower side -- as you'd expect with the price, featuring a 1024x600 resolution screen, 1GHz VIA WM8950 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB or 16GB of storage and 1-megapixel front-facing camera. It ships in white, grey, or pink.

Of course, this device is only $50 cheaper than the high-spec'd and quite popular Nexus 7. However, if you're in the market for a cheap tablet, the MeMO Pad may be your next purchase. You can find it at B&H and other retailers.
