One for the diary, Android tablet fans. The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity will be arriving on UK shores from 31 August and will be available from Amazon for £599.99.

Having been unveiled at Mobile World Congress in February 2012, the UK was originally told we should expect the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity to be with us by April.

Yet better late than never, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich tablet that comes with a detachable keyboard, helping the device double up as a notebook, will be available from Amazon from 31 August, though currently there’s no holding or pre-order page on the site.

Billed as being the “world’s first Full HD Android tablet”, the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity certainly has an impressive feature set.

This includes an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core CPU, eight-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and autofocus and a two-megapixel front-facing snapper for video calling. The size of the high-definition display measures in at 10.1-inches.

However, come the end of August, will Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich operating system appear a tad tired in light of the superior Android 4.1 Jelly Bean?
