Apple's next event will take place on 21 October, it's claimed.

Tech website Apple Insider has reported - citing a person familiar with the company's pre-launch logistics - major new Apple products are expected to debut during the second half of October. The Apple Watch was largely thought to unveil at an October event, though Apple obviously moved its unveil date ahead to September. Many reports have since said that an October event could still be in the works.

Apple once teased that its autumn product pipeline will be the best in 25 years, so the company could conceivably have enough new hardware to fill two events spaced just 5 weeks apart. The Daily Dot, another tech website, for instance, reported that Apple is planning to hold its next event on 21 October. Two new iPads and the release of OS X Yosemite is expected at that event, according to the site's unnamed sources.

More specifically, Apple could unveil the sixth-generation iPad and the third-edition iPad Mini. Rumoured new features for the iPads include a faster A8 processor, anti-reflective display, and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Apple might also release OS X Yosemite - the next version of the Mac operating system - immediately after the event, just like it did with OS X Mavericks at Apple's 22 October event last year.

Keep in mind there are several other Apple devices still due for annual upgrades, such as: the Mac Mini, MacBook Air, iMac, and the Apple TV.
