Amazon has announced the UK release dates and prices for its new tablet devices and is now accepting pre-orders.

The Kindle Fire HDX comes in two sizes, 7- and 8.9-inches, with the smaller of the two starting at £199, the larger £329. The 7-inch HDX will ship from 13 November, the 8.9-inch from 19 November.

Additionally, the new version of the Kindle Fire is available on Amazon.co.uk too and will ship from 24 October. It starts at £119 for the 8GB model with "Special Offers".

Amazon's Kindle Fire HDX tablets both sport 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processors, 2GB of RAM, Adreno 330 graphics and up to 11 hours of mixed-use battery life. They differ in screen resolutions - 2560 x 1600 for the 8.9-inch version (339ppi) and 1920 x 1200 for the 7-inch (323ppi) - and effectively replace the Kindle Fire HD models at the top of the range.

Various options are available, with or without special offers - personalised offers and sponsored screen savers - with ad-free models coming with £10 price premiums. And the HDX devices are available with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage capacities. In addition, the HDX tablets come in either Wi-Fi-only or Wi-Fi plus 4G LTE connectivity through Vodafone.
